Diamond D was awarded this project which consisted of stabilizing the banks of the spillway discharge channel immediately downstream of the Lake Sam Rayburn Dam where significant erosion had occurred near critical powerline structures. The work performed included grading of the existing bank slope, installation of geotextile fabric, and placed approximately 2,900 tons of Class 130 riprap which proved to be extremely challenging as all work was performed under energized powerlines. Our team was faced with an extremely difficult unloading/staging area for the riprap as it was located approximately 2.5 miles from the work location. Nevertheless, our team was able to successfully haul the riprap down the right of way to the workforce using our highly efficient trucks and expertly trained personnel.
